Dental Implants
Dental Implants Overview
Dental Implants are the gold standard and most advanced permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. Unlike traditional dentures or bridges, a dental implant acts as an artificial tooth root, fused directly into the jawbone. This provides a strong, stable foundation for individual ceramic crowns, multi-tooth bridges, or full-mouth prostheses, restoring complete bite force, speech, and a natural, beautiful smile.
- Feels, functions, and looks exactly like natural teeth
- Preserves jawbone density and prevents facial sagging
- Does not require grinding or damaging adjacent healthy teeth
- Highly durable, lifelong solution with proper oral care
- Improves speech clarity and chewing efficiency
The dental implant procedure begins with a detailed assessment of your oral health, jawbone density, and medical history. Using biocompatible materials (usually titanium), the implant post is placed in the jawbone. Over the course of a few months, a process called osseointegration takes place, where the bone fuses directly with the implant surface. Once healed, an abutment and custom-crafted crown are attached to complete the restoration.
How Dental Implants Work
A dental implant system consists of three main components:
- The Implant Post: A biocompatible titanium screw surgically placed in the jawbone that acts as a tooth root.
- The Abutment: A small connector piece that attaches to the post and sits just above the gumline.
- The Prosthesis (Crown, Bridge, or Denture): The natural-looking custom-made tooth replacement that is attached to the abutment.
Key Benefits of Dental Implants
- Natural Aesthetics: Custom-crafted to match your natural teeth in color, size, and shape.
- Bone Preservation: Simulates natural tooth roots, which prevents the jawbone from shrinking over time.
- Convenience & Comfort: No slipping or sliding, eliminating the need for messy denture adhesives.
- Improved Oral Health: Allows easy brushing and flossing, and doesn't stress neighboring teeth.
Implant Options Available
- Single Tooth Implant: For replacing a single missing tooth seamlessly.
- Multiple Teeth Implants: Using an implant-supported bridge to replace multiple teeth.
- Full Mouth Implants (All-on-6): To restore a complete arch of missing teeth.
- Immediate Load Implants: Placement of temporary functional teeth on the same day.
- Implant Supported Dentures: Retaining dentures securely with strategically placed implants.
